I am Joy,

a Copenhagen-born and based Journalist student and freelance writer. Having lived and worked in four continents, traveled extensively, my focus is shaped by movement – across places, disciplines, and social contexts. Alongside my current academic training in Journalism and Cultural Studies, I have moved through industries often considered surface-leveled. Rather than distancing myself, I use lived experience as material; to examine contradiction, representation, power, and the stories we are conditioned to perform vs. the ones we are rarely invited to tell.

Since 2015, I have been interested in creating space for a different kind of self-expression and media practice. An alternative to aestheticized opinion and algorithm-friendly certainty. Combining innate curiosity and critical inquiry, my work explores digital intimacy, often at the intersection of the political and the personal, across written, audio and visual formats. At the core of my interests is a commitment to language, attention, and accountability: to tell the stories that invite deep reflection, challenge dominant narratives, and remain open to complexity.
